At Portsmith’s office:
Ava: *rolls her eyes, to
Portsmith* What ever I am sure Captain Jack Sparrow could change your mind. *thinks* If your really scared of them get Wilson to check under your bed before
you sleep tonight. *With that Ava disappears out of the office she winks a Charlie and she makes her way down
the stairs. When she arrives at the repection desk she spots Father Love-Joy who is pacing* Aaron whats wrong?
Father: These so called officers
refuse to help I have a nun on the run and do they care no. *waves his hands around* Emina has been missing for
a week now and they don't care.
Ava: Emina she gone oh my
Father: I give up I will
look myself but if she’s dead it will her blood on their hands. *he gets more angry* I warn you her
blood will be on your hands
Ava: I will help you look
again *smiles* if we don’t find her I'll get Godley to help.
At Chez Roux:
*Meanwhile at Deppville airport
Don Francisco Da Silva arrives in Deppville with his newfound assistant Carlos. They climb in the cab as soon as they got
in they pull up at Chez Roux. Don Francisco Da Silva is in his get up just like Don Juan would be if he were still Don
Juan. Carlos drags the bags into Chez Roux were they are led up to their rooms.*
Da Silva: This will be our
new home for a while until that is until I find better accommodation. This will not do my taste at all *shudders* I
will find my daughter Emina and maybe I will have my way with his mother again. *Laughs* Now Carlos *pacing back and forth*
we must find her first before that fool
Aaron. *Grins* now let the
search begin.
Carlos: Yes Mr Da Silva
Da Silva: Good come along
Carlos we have no time to waste *grins* to the convent Ana will be shocked
Carlos: Yes Mr Da Silva
Da Silva: Actually you stay
get your bearings around Deppville I will go one way you the other.
Carlos: Yes Mr Da Silva. *With that Carlos goes one way and Don Francisco Da Silva goes in the direction
of the convent.*
At Abberline’s office:
Abberline *takes his brandy
bottle, and the little other bottle hidden in the drawer of his desk - laudanum - drops a few drops into the brandy, looks
at some papers that DeeDee must have brought to his desk, totally disinterested, starts to read. He already misses Chiana,
who still probably is napping. And he thinks of his little Faith. How is Manouche doing? It begins to show already, but it
will not be he who shares the wait with Manouche. It will be Blake by her side, though it is his child. It's his and Manouche's.
He wonders whether it really doesn't bother Blake that Manouche is having a child by another man. He drinks the brandy and
tries to concentrate on his work. There's a shovel license application. If he could make the laws he would ban shovels. Everyone
who has got hit by a shovel would understand … Then he catches the name - Mary Rainey. What? Rainey? Does she has something
to do with Dr. Rainey and why does she need a shovel? He punches in the number found on the application form, listens the
phone ring, taps his fingers on the desk, waiting, but no one picks up the call. Finally the answering machine kicks in.*
This is Inspector Abberline from Security. Mrs. Rainey, I can't approve of your
shovel license without having a talk with you first in person. Thank you. *he
lets the phone drop with a bang.* DeeDee! Will you take some copies for me.
DeeDee
*appears at the door in her immaculate business suit* Sure, Inspector. *He blinks, loosk twice at her and DeeDee smiles a polite little smile* Which ones?
Abberline *Very much distracted by her odd behavior lifts a bunch of papers still staring
at her and hands them to her* Make a copy for Brasco of that license application. I want him to see it.
DeeDee *takes
the papers and leafs through them while going to the copy machine. Suddenly her eyes go wide* Oh my!* quickly she takes the
copies, returns them to Abberline - except one paper that she puts on Donnie's desk. It's a request for divorce that Abberline
filled in but later regretted and forgot about. This is going to be hilarious! She laughs when she thinks about Mercy and
Kat. Can there be a wider difference in women than these two? It's about time Abberline got rid of this unhealthy addiction
to pirate women...*
At Mort and Mary’s house:
Mort: Mary, there is a message on the machine from Inspector Abberline. He wants you to come see him about your
shovel license. When did you apply for a shovel licence and why do you feel you
need one?
Mary: Oh, I stopped by the
other day for it. After last night I really feel like I need it Mort. Hm,
I wonder why he can't approve it. I haven't done anything wrong. * she thinks maybe she could talk to the Inspector about
her father if she feels she can trust him . Antonio says she should.* I'll give him a call *goes to the phone and waits for
him to answer.* Hello, Inspector Abberline, this is Mary Rainey returning your call.
Abberline: *picks up the
phone. He is up to the third glass of brandy and still thinking about Faith and Manouche. He feels very irritated about the
intrusion* Mrs. Rainey. I think I did not tell you to call me back. I told you to present yourself here at the office.
We don't take shovels and shovel licenses lightly.
Mary: *ouch! What a grump.I
don't like him already she thinks* I'm so sorry Inspector Abberline. I just wanted to tell you I will be down directly,
if that is alright with you?
Abberline: I will be expecting
you. Good day to you, Mrs. Rainey. *he puts the phone down without listening for a report. She has to be related to Dr. Rainey
in some way and he already feels how he dislikes her just because of that.*
Mary: Holds the phone
away from her ear and stares at it *why that miserable man hung up on me! *she grabs her keys and shouts* Mort, I’m
heading down to the Security Office to meet with Inspector Abberline about my shovel license. Do you want to ride down with
me?
Mort: *looks down from the
loft* No Sweets, I’m still working on the chapters I have to send in next week. Try not to be too long, ok? Are you alright, you sound angry?
Mary: Ah, no I’m fine.
I’m just not familiar being treated rudely by a man! *however, she is relieved that she’ll be able to meet
with him alone, just in case she feels she can trust him but she is starting to really doubt it., she gives Mort a kiss *
I promise, I’ll be back soon. * She leaves and heads towards the Security Building and starts to think. Boy, Abberline such sounded grumpy. Maybe he would lock me up if he knew who my father was!
But of course I haven’t done anything wrong. I just want a shovel license so I can protect myself when if one of his
goons comes after me. Deep in her heart she knows it’s going to happen sooner or later. Then she starts to get mad.
Where does this Abberline get off being so rude to me on the phone? I don’t like him…not one bit she decides.*
At Abberline’s office:
Mary *pulls into the parking
lot and goes in. She walks up to Dee Dee * Hi, could I please see Inspector Abberline, he is expecting me. My name is Mary
Rainey. By the way, I love your suit!
DeeDee: *smiles politely*
Thank you very much. Your choice is very good as well. Follow me, this way please.*she guides Mary to a closed door and knocks*Inspector,
a visitor for you. Mary Rainey*then she opens the door and beckons to Mary to go in, whispering to her* he's in a bad mood,
but don't let him intimidate you...*and she winks to her as she goes back to her own desk*
Abberline: *shoves his brandy
behind a stack of folders as he hears the knock, and he looks the woman straight in the eyes for a while with his dark
intense eyes* Mary Rainey? *he lights a cigarette and frowns* What is your relationship to Dr. Rainey?
Mary *stands just inside
the door and looks back at him with as much intensity as he was looking at her. She could swear she saw sparks flying thru
the air but she didn’t let it unnerve her. Her Italian temper was coming out so he just better watch himself! He better
not even try to intimidate her!. So, she thinks, this is the famous Inspector Abberline who likes to be rude to women! Her
anger makes her more beautiful then she could imagine and she tosses her hair behind her shoulder with her dark eyes flashing!
* Inspector Abberline.* she almost curtsied but thought better of it* yes, I am Mary Rainey, wife of Morton Rainey. Dr Rainey
is my brother in law. He is a horrible excuse of a human being who tried to kill me with a tainted apple just a few days ago.
He drugged me and I almost died from it. He wouldn’t let Mort take me to the hospital but luckily I came around. What
has he got to do with my shovel license?
Abberline *keeps her gaze
locked, but now there is a flicker of interest in his eyes, she's got a temper and she is very beautiful indeed* Please do sit down. I just wanted to know how much involved
you are with Dr. Rainey. Your description of him matches exactly my sentiments.
I am sorry if I offended you, but you are not the only one he experimented with.
As for the shovel license, with your temperament, it might be dangerous to give
you one. *but now he smiles at her*
Mary: *gives a hint
of a smile, walks towards his desk and takes a seat before him. She studies his face and sees he is sincere. He should smile
more often she thinks, it makes him very handsome* He’s experienced with others you say? Why that is awful! I hope whoever
it was is alright. It was a horrible experience that I shall never forget. Ms. Portsmith has some of the apples he tainted.
I hope they will be of some use to you. *smiles then looks down at her lap trying to decide how or even if she should tell
him about the danger she is in from her father. Minutes go by as she struggles with her decision. Finally she looks up with
the reality of it all written all over her face. She looks like a lost little girl who needs someone to look out for her.*
Inspector Abberline, *she pleads* I have to have that shovel license. I am in grave danger!
Abberline: *drops the shovel
license he has been holding and leans a bit closer to her, his expression very grave* He experienced with many patients, and
many died of it. He experimented on me. *he decides to leave out the part why he was chosen for the 'treatment', but she has
all his attention now and his voice has gone softer* we are here to protect you the best we can. You have to tell me who threatens
you, Mary, *not noticing himself how he switched to her first name* I promise that I will deal with anyone who will try to
harm you. Maybe a shovel is not enough. *she looks even more beautiful with the
childlike pleading eyes turned on him* Who is threatening you?
Mary * looking into his eyes
she knows this is the man she will trust with her life. Slowly she pulls her eyes away from his for she feels if she keeps
looking in them she will disappear. Looking down at her lap*Well, you see, I came to Deppville to escape my father. He is
a very powerful man in New York . He wanted to become more powerful with the politicians so he was forcing me
to marry another powerful man so their families could unite. *she sees Abberline was going to speak and she holds up her hand*
please, let me get this all out before you speak. It’s not easy for me to talk about.* He nods.* She stands and starts
to pace in front of him* my father uses people to gain anything he desires. I never thought he would use me in that way, but
I guess you might say I’m naïve. *attempts to smile and continues to pace* I fell in love when I was 18 years old..
I became pregnant and when my father found out, he made me have an abortion. *starts to cry* He killed my baby! His own Grandchild!.
* It takes her a few minutes to compose herself as she mourns the child she never held.* James, my lover, was found at the
bottom of a ravine with his neck broken.*she sits down and he can see how she struggles to continue. You could hear a pin
drop as the silence filled the air* After my baby and James died, he kept me locked away, only letting me out
when he needed me to appear with him at some function or another until I became twenty one. I became friends with Antonio,
who is a movie star and he is like a brother to me. He planned my escape from New York but it
was my decision where to go. That way, when my father questioned him Antonio wouldn’t be able to tell him where I was.
Antonio’s career has been put on hold until next year. I know my father did something to him but Antonio would never
tell me. *closes her eyes a minute before she continues*. Antonio and I attended a movie Premier. Once I was in the theater,
he led me to his limo in the back and I left New
York . That was in May. My wedding to my
father’s friend was to be in July.*stops talking for minute and looks up at the Inspector* I met Mort when I was getting
off the train in Deppville..* smiles* He charmed me right off my feet and we were married shortly thereafter. *a look of sadness
crosses her face* Mort doesn’t know any of this. I know it’s not healthy to keep secrets in a marriage, but we
are newlyweds and I’m afraid to tell him. Our relationship is so new. Mort has had so much heartache already. I just
don’t want him to know about mine. My father or one of his goons will find me eventually. It was on the news the other
night how he is still looking for me. Of course I’ve changed my name but my father has an unlimited source of money
to track me down. *starts to cry again* I’m afraid I’ll never be free of him. I’ve made a laughing stock
of my father and his friend is furious. My father would kill me or lock me away again if he finds me and I’m afraid
they will hurt Mort. So you see Inspector Abberline, I must have that shovel license to protect myself! *she gives a little
hiccup as she wipes her eyes. She is a vision of beauty and sadness all rolled into one. She gazes into his eyes and pleads
for help*
Abberline: *listens silently
to her sad and moving story, then he gets up from behind his desk and offers her a handkerchief, putting his hand on her shoulder,
feeling a slight quiver under his fingers and restraining himself from hugging her* Here, wipe your beautiful eyes...I am
so sorry for you, and I do know how you feel. I have lost my first wife and my unborn child. They were murdered. I can't imagine
anything worse that can happpen than losing a child *he sighs, brushes Victoria and Kat's unborn child out of his mind and
looks into her shining eyes from very near. *she moves him, and he want's to reassure her, to calm her down.*Don't be afraid.
We will keep him away. I hope that you can trust me, Mary. I don't personally know Mort, but I know his story, and I don't
think he is a criminal. I believe he was framed. *he hesitates a while, brushes a strand of hair from her shoulder back behind
her ear* I am not sure that it would be good to tell about it all to Mort now. You will get your shovel license, and you can
always call me when you are in trouble
Mary: *accepts his handkerchief,
wipes her eyes and then touches his hand. She feels a spark shoot thru her and she almost gasps out loud. She stares at their
hands then slowly pulls hers away. She looks into his eyes with sadness then shakes her head as if to clear her thoughts.
* I am sorry for your loss Inspector Abberline. It seems we have a tragedy in common doesn’t it? A tragedy one
can never fully recover from. I mourn my loss every day as I am sure you do.*she stands and starts pacing again, for she is
very nervous. * But how will you keep him away? He will send someone who will fit right into Deppville. *panic fills her*
What if they kill Mort, I would die if he gets hurt because of me!
Abberline: *she seems to
him like a little bird flitting around in a small cage, he stands in her way and stops her* I will never forget it, but life
has to go on... You just have to trust me, Mary. *he would very much like to wrap his arms arounf her and press her against
his chest, in the hope of comforting her, wanting her to feel safe, he lifts his hand but lets it sink again.* Mort was lucky
to find you. But... I know the house where he lives and.. *he stops, not wanting her to know about how he found Salome's body
in Mort's cornfield, not the kind of thing she would want to hear.* .. and it is rather alone. You must make the house as
safe as possible. And I think you need something more than just a shovel to defend yourself with. Do you know how to shoot?
But first of all, you have to trust me and stop worrying. I won't let anyone harm you. I promise *he lifts her chin to make
her look him in the eyes again, and he leans a little closer, enchanted by her eyes glistening with tears and her little mouth
half open...*
Mary: *blinks as she realizes
how close he is and her heart starts racing. She weakly responds* no, I’ve never shot a gun. Could you teach me? *licks
her upper lip because he has not backed away.* I do trust you * his eyes are hypnotic to her* she leans in slightly when her
cell phone rings. She backs up and gets her phone out of her pocket. * Hello*
Mort: Sweets, where
are you, you’ve been gone so long. I’ve been worried about you?
Mary: I’m sorry, this
has taken longer then I thought it would. I’m in a meeting with Inspector Abberline.
Mort: I’m sorry to
interrupt but listen I have wonderful news. I have to fly to New York tomorrow. Rented Rage
made the best sellers list! It’s wonderful isn’t it. Not every released yet, can you imagine! Will you go
with me?
Mary: Mort, that is wonderful.
I’m so proud of you sweetheart. *panic fills her voice* But Mort, I can’t go to New York , I just can’t.
Mort: Why ever not?
Mary: *glances at the Inspector
who is watching her intently* Mort, I’ve never told you this, but I’m afraid to fly *she of course cannot tell
him she can’t go anywhere near her fathers territory. * I’ll be fine Mort, I’ll keep myself busy while you
are away. How long will you be gone for?
Mort: I’ll be gone
for three days. I’m not happy about leaving you home Mary, maybe I should cancel.
Mary: Don’t be silly
Mort, I’ll be fine. I’ll keep the doors locked. I promise. Listen, I’ll be home soon. Do you want to go
out for dinner tonight?
Mort: That sounds like a
good idea. Ok, I’ll see you soon. Be careful driving home Sweets. Bye *he disconnected*
Mary: *looks at the Inspector*
I hate lying to him, but I’m a big girl. I’ll be fine. * although the tremble in her voice doesn’t make
her sound so sure of it. *
Abberline: *he can feel the
scent of her hair, and she leans closer to him, and he is unable to back away, when the phone goes off he moves away, back
behind his desk, frowns, listening to the phone call but he has a hard time deciphering what she really is talking. His mind
is only registering the sweet tone of her voice, and the anguish in her eyes, and how scared and unsure she seems, how young
and innocent she looks...* Mary, I don't think that you should stay alone in that house on the outskirts of the town. Not
for three days. Perhaps you should instead book yourself to Chez Roux for a couple of nights. In that way I would be near
to you at my home Bournemouth House, to be... to watch you, I mean... no, to watch over you, I mean. And I could learn you
to - to handle a weapon.
Mary: *smiles* I think
that would be a wonderful idea and I'm sure Mort would be fine with it. In fact he'll probably appreciate the suggestion.
*she wondered if she should mention the man in the garden, but then decided it was after all a dream, wasn't
it? She shakes her head at the thought * When can you teach me about weapons Inspector Abberline? *she feels panic
again* I need to protect myself!
Abberline: You don't need
to protect yourself. I will take care of you. You can have my spare gun...*he opens the locked drawer and finds the gun hidden
beside a stash of opium and some empty small bottles.* There. I suggest that we'll go immediately to Grape's and choose a
good and sharp shovel for you. Even if you were never to use it, I am sure it will somewhat feel better to know that you have
it. Afterwards, we can go straight to Bournemouth House and I will teach you to handle a weapon, and..*he falls suddenly silent,
remembering how he himself was attacked when he was seeing Daphne at Chez Roux.* Maybe it would be safer if you were my guest
during the time your husband is away. You wouldn't have to be alone at alll. And *he adds with a slight smile* I trust that
he will find it even better than Chez Roux. You can tell him that there is also my housekeeper and the nanny, and both my
children, so he can't object. What do you think?
Mary: * looks at the Inspector
as if he is her hero. She is so glad she trusted him with her secret.* Inspector, that is such a kind offer! *she wonders
if he has a wife and if so where she is. He is just too nice of a man to be alone she decides* Actually Mort is expecting
me at home shortly. Will you be able to come to our home later tonight and reassure him that it would be alright if I stay
at your home? You see, Mort can get a little jealous although I have never given him reason to nor of course would I want
to. *smiles*. I’m sure he’ll appreciate your offer more if he hears it from you. Can you come over, say in about
an hour or so?
Abberline: Of course, but,
in that case you do have to tell him why you need the protection of Security, and tell about your background. *he shrugs*
Maybe that would be sensible. He might cancel his trip and stay with you instead. *he smiles at her again and looks her straight
in the eyes* You must, of course, prefer your husbands company to mine. But I can take you shooting anyway.
Mary: Well, no,
actually he'll be glad to hear it. * starts pacing again* Ah, I don't want you to think I'm crazy, but a man and a woman
were in our garden last night. The man was singing terrible tunes about Mort. The man kept coming around every hour with a
new song. And an evil woman kept laughing at me. Mort found me in a heap in the middle of the yard with a butcher knife at
my side. I didn't want to tell you because it sounds so wild! *she stops pacing and walks up to him with her dark eyes wide
*This man threatened me and said Mort will kill me because all beauty must die! * A single tear falls down her cheek * So
you see Inspector, I am very much afraid and I don't want Mort to know yet about my father. Can we just say its because
of what happened last night *she implores*
Abberline: You should have
told about it earlier. Unfortunately, there are all kind of people, from petty thieves to pir.. er all kinds of different
strange folks. In that case, I am sure he doesn't want to leave you alone. Now, you go home to him, and I will be there after
lunch. *he steps very close to her and brushes the tear away from her face, says softly* Don't worry.
Mary: *smiles warmly at her
hero* Thank you Inspector. I'll tell Mort you will be stopping by. I still think it would be better coming from you about
my staying at your home. This trip is very important to him. You see, his new book Rented Rage is already on the best sellers list and its not even released yet! *she holds out her hand
to shake his, and when he puts his hand in hers the electric jolt goes thru her again. She looks at him confused and wonders
if he felt it as well. Then she wonders how she could possibly feel that when she loves Mort so. She slowly backs to the door
and says *well, I'll see you after lunch* and leaves the room. She goes up to Dee Dee and says *Dee Dee, is
he always so.........
Dee Dee: Dreamy?
Mary: Yeah, ...dreamy.
*she leaves to go home to Mort.
Abberline: *lights a new
cigarette after Mary has gone, in deep thoughts. She is so totally different from all these headstrong forceful women he has
been surrounded with - Portsmith, Manouche, Daphne, Kat... She reminds him of Victoria, and he
feels a sudden yearning after her, after all these years that she has been away, he still misses her. He shuts his eyes and
imagines her as she was before that all started, sweet and innocent, relying totally on him in all matters small and big,
and she was so vulnerable that it made his heart ache... He sighs wistfully and grabs his brandy glass. It must be the fourth
or fifth today, but he still craves for more. Mary has awaken some memories he already thought forgotten. He buried them when
he married Kat, he saw the same vulnerability in Kat. But she just never wanted to reveal her weak side for him, he got only
tantalizing glimpses of her other side... He recalls the divorce papers he has had ready on his desk. What should he do? He
starts to look after the paper but it isn't there anymore. He frowns, then pours another brandy.*
At the convent:
Ava and Aaron *arrive back
at the convent Ava is feeling tired so she suggests a nap before the search for Emina begins. Ava makes her way to her
room to have a nap her head hurts so much, the voices her returned with a vengeance now. There is so many of them now all
at once it's become unbearable. Ava collapses on the bed in her room Morrigan appears in a shimmering gold light. She approaches
Ava on the bed and moves her hands across her body. Suddenly she bolts up*
Morrigan: Ava
Ava: Morrigan nice to see
you
Morrigan: Such a nice welcome
Ava you passed out on the bed have you been abusing you power.
Ava: I have certainly not
*angers* I have these blasted voices in my head cries for help. They are doing my head in I managed to get rid of them for
a bit but now they are back.
Morrigan: I see well my child
well sit up my child and I will help you
Ava: *sits herself up* what
are you going to do?
Morrigan: *Puts her hands
on her head* this may sting a little.
Ava: *battling not to scream*
Sugar me if that was a sting I'd hate to know what pain was.
Morrigan: What do you hear?
Ava: Nothing.
Morrigan: I have fine-tuned
the voices you will only be able to read woman whether that be their thoughts, emotions, or whatever. You'll still be able
to do all the things you did before but now they will be much more powerful Ava. We are proud of what you have achieved so
far so this is your reward. The voices where a test you see if you couldn't have handled them you'd give up your abilities.
You stuck with it and battled on so you past the test. You soon be on your way to be like me one day. Now the child remains
unharmed Ava in fact he's much more content now. Your son will be big and strong he will harm no one he will bring love to
the world. He is a beautiful boy with a full head of hair.
Ava: Hang on a test oh boy
that's something nearly drive some one insane. *Smiles* A full head of hair cute I have conceived a monkey *laughs* you haven't
seen Don on your travels lately?
Morrigan: I cannot speak
of him Ava lights will guide him home *slowly she backs away* Good bye Ava. *With
that she disappears and Ava is left to ponder things for a moment.
Ava *closes her eyes as she
finally feels the enormity of the pain she caused Don. Tears start to stream down her face she feels sick to her stomach.
She sighs and through the tears she falls back, with her hands on the only thing that is left of Don. She can't even feel
any woman happiness from him nothing it's like he is dead. The pool was right Don did give up on love and she caused him the
pain. From now on up until the birth of their child she will be bound to the cloth of the convent. The only thing that will
set her free will be Don’s return. She closes her eyes as she homes in on Emina she now can feel where she is. Ava senses
that she doesn't want Ana and Aaron there, so Ava sneaks out to go to her by herself.*
At Portsmith’s office:
Jack *making his way down
the street cautiously, trying to keep out of sight – approaches the Security building, goes to a side alleyway. He glances around carefully, then hoists himself up to one of the windows, pushes
it open, drops through, lands roughly on the floor. He shakes his head dizzily,
looks up, sees Charlie sitting at a desk, his feet propped up, reading “A Broad Abroad:
Memoirs of a Lusty Lass,” so engrossed in the reading that he doesn’t even notice an intruder. Jack grins, pleased that his calculations for accessing Portsmith’s office were correct. He stands up, brushes himself off, approaches the desk, speaks in a congenial tone* Ahh … Charlie, is it? Or are you assuming a new moniker
these days that better reflects your current ardor for the world of espionage? I
was wondering if I might have audience with your employer, Commander Portsmith. *his
eyes go a little dreamy for a moment as he remembers her ensemble from their last tryst*
Tell her Jack Sparrow is here to see her with a message of some import … CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow. Savvy?
Charlie: *with a wicked grin,
jumps up and goes to Portsmith* Commander, there is one pirate here to see you.
Portsmith: *frowns* I am not seeing
any pirates!
Charlie: *innocently* Not even Captain Sparrow, savvy?
Portsmith: *blushes* Why didn't you say
so immediately, usher him in as soon as possible and make sure that no one saw him entering. And Charlie - he never visited
my office, is that clear?
Charlie: *stifling his grin* Sure! Captain Sparrow, she is waiting most eagerly for you.
*dryly* And would you please return my magazine. I am reading it only for work related purposes. You have to know the enemy,
begging your pardon. *he snatches the mag back*
Jack *frowns at him as he
grabs the magazine, shrugs, passes by him to enter Portsmith’s office. Beams
a charming smile as he sees her behind her desk, holds his arms out to her* There
she is, my commanding Commander! How ever have you been, my rare and wonderous
fishnetted jewel? If one is to judge from your tantalizing appearance, one would
only be able to conclude that you are in as fine a fettle as can be achieved. *swoops
closer for a kiss*
Portsmith: *embarrassed,
blushes and rises up and adjusts the cleavage, sees his eyes wandering* You are not supposed to come here ... *and then she
loses her breath and grabs him*
Jack *thrown
off guard for a second, quickly recovers, embraces her, pulls her very close; gazes into her eyes, smiling roguishly as his
hands wander over her body* It’s a simple enough matter to explain to your
superior, if superior you have, dearie, which I for one cannot imagine … you’ve brought me in for questioning
… you’re … interrogating me … I didn’t dare refuse … *he brushes her lips with his, brings
a hand up, smoothly unfastens the top button of her low-cut blouse*
Portsmith *with an evil grin*
I don't have to answer to anyone, but you have to answer to me .. *she draws
a deep breath as his fingers touch her skin* Don't ever try to refuse me! *and pushes him down on the desk and throws herself on him*
Charlie *with a
smug expression, writes in his notebook* Today Captain Jack Sparrow came to the
Commander's office and I think that Portsmith may be torturing him by the sound of the voices from the locked office ...
Jack *crushed
under Portsmith on her desk, looks over her shoulder and struggles to unfasten the back of her tight corset-like belt; brings
another hand down, strokes her leg, feels the already short skirt creeping up her thigh*
Refuse you? Wouldn’t dream of it, darlin’! *he kisses her passionately, they roll off the desk, hit the floor noisily.
He lifts up slightly, gazes at her as she lies on the floor looking up at him, he starts quickly tearing off his shirt* Our business can easily wait till after the pleasure, as far as I’m concerned
…
At the convent:
Ava *is just about to leave
the convent when it dawns on her why is Aaron so worried and who is the "he" he was referring to. Ava turns back around and
marches into his room. Father Love-Joy puts down the book he was reading.* Ava:
Well that looks as if you are worried Aaron.
Father: I am worried.
Ava: If you where worried
you wouldn't be reading such a trashy novel would you?
Father: It's not trashy it's
a romantic I'll have you know.
Ava: Sure Aaron tipping
the velvet sounds oh so romantic. Don has read that novel and he never stopped talking about it for hours.
Father: *coughs* Well then
Don has good taste.
Ava: Now I am going of track
here *raising her eyebrow* what is the actual reason you want to find Emina Aaron. *Bangs her hands on the desk* Tell me or
I am leaving this convent.
Father: *ponders for a moment
Ana will kill him if Ava was to leave* all right I know whom Emina parents are… and Daddy is in town and mommy well
she doesn't know that she is her daughter.
Ava: What
Father: Emina father has
come from Mexico to claim his daughter and Ana is Emina mother but Ana doesn't know…
Ava: That Emina is her daughter…
but she must
Father: she doesn't because
I took Emina to the convent when she was a baby Ana couldn't do it. And now Daddy is in town to claim his daughter back
Ava: Oh who is daddy?
Father: Don Francisco Da
Silva
Ava: Oh dear… oh boy
lets hope Don doesn't see him
Father: Exactly I don't know
what to do he's going to take her away and marry her off.
Ava: What?
Father: Marry her off and
if she doesn't agree well I don't know what will happen.
Ava: Oh dear I must warn
her … l leave it to me. *With that Ava disappears out of the convent. Ava
takes a cab to where she thinks Emina is although, she can't quite figure out the address, she described the building and
street to perfection. The cab quickly pulls up at Elliott's and Ava steps out of the cab.*
On the outskirts of Deppville:
*In a room on the outskirts
of Deppville there sit a beautiful woman in a heavy scented room. The walls are covered in shades of pink and red, from the
ceiling there hangs crystal jewels, velvet and silk curtains cover the windows. The beautiful woman has her brunette
hair up and she is dressed in a beautiful long flowing white dress. Before her is a crystal ball she gazes in it, she can
feel a man coming towards her place. Sighing she takes a deep breathe in as waits for his arrival.*
Wilmot *rides atop Lightening
to the outskirts of Deppville. He’s not sure he’s doing the right
thing by coming here but he feels desperate in his need for Mary. It wouldn’t hurt to listen to what the woman
will have to offer, but then he hears the nagging in the back of his mind. *do you really want her if she only wants you by
magic,* he mutters to himself. He shakes his head and climbs down from Lightening. He goes and knocks on the door.*
Amour: *expecting his arrival
she is standing before the door with her hand and arm out stretched. Her finger beckonds him in and with a sultry voice* I
have been expecting *she turns around an makes her way back into the room. The heady scents fill the room and make
Wilmot follow*
Wilmot: * glances around
nervously as he's led thru the room. He follows her without question and doesn't speak until he's asked to*
Amour: *sits down at the
table* Sit *she moves her hands over the crystal ball* Wilmort *grins* I am Amour mistress and guardian of love now
how can be of assistance?
Wilmot: *is mesmorized by
the movement of her hands over the crystal ball.* Ahem* he clears his throat* You see, I have fallen in love with a woman
who loves another.*pain crosses his face as he continues* She wants me to be her friend * smiles weakly* I would move
heaven and earth for her but I need more then just friendship. But, I feel quilty. I'm very confused about this
whole mess. Can you look in that ball and tell me if there is a ghost of a chance to be with her without a spell, or is
a spell the only way?
Amour *listens intently*
your in love Wilmot are *watches him and she gazes into his soul* I may be able to help you but you must pay me with
what ever I so do desire *smiles* and then I will help *moves closer* so shall we discuss a fee.
Wilmot: *feels a little leery*
what kind of fee are we speaking of Amour?
Amour: *grins* Your reputation
is known amongst my kind and my fee will be that *stands up and walks behind him. She whispers in his ear* I know you
really want this you need my help, for you see I am the only one who can preform such magic, with out being cursed or the
requeaster being cursed. *smiles* so you need me with out me the potions and lotions whole get from others will not work *she
pulls her knife out and holds it to his neck* My fee is use of your body for one night... now strip and I will work magic
Wilmot: *breaks out in a
sweat* You can put the knife away Amour, there is no need for it. *as he starts taking off his shirt he thinks she is
beautiful so why not*
Amour: *she watches him remove
his shirt* Ohh such a fine specimen of man *she bite her bottom lip* oh am I going to have fun with you *she moves her arm
and hand to the curtains to the bed fly open and the door locks* There is no escaping *with her powers she pushes
him to the bed as mist surrounds it* Do not fear me I am a force to be reckoned with *she bites his neck and
chest slowly teasing him* do you trust me entirely?
Wilmot: *looks into her eyes
and decides he has not choice but to trust her* Yes, Amour, I trust you. *he'll do anything to have Mary*
Amour: *grins as she bites
her bottom lip* Good *she drags her finger nails down his chest drawing blood she ignores his shouts then she kiss the blood
away. She rips his trousers off and she has her way with him. When in the process of such act she begins to chant * I am the
Goddess, I am the Mother, All act of Love and Pleasure are my Rituals. Sacred pleasure, sacred pleasure.I am the God and I
am Her Lover. When you give pleasure, you bring Me honour. *she repeats this all through the night *
Wilmot: *woke with a
start. He sat up slowly for he was in pain all over his body. He looked over to where Amour was seated and asked
her * Will Mary come to me freely now?
Amour: *looks up* No that
was payment now for the product *she takes a red and pink candle and she lights them up* I call upon Aphrodite
Goddess of Love to be with me. As I make this magic and that her presence gives me her blessing. And it harm no, so be it
*with that a mist surrounds her. Amour holds a pink rose bud in her hand* This flower is my romantic allure I freshen
it so it be pure. *she beckons him over and snips some his hair off* As honey to the bee is sweet, may true love sweep Mary
of her feet, may her love for Wilmot bring them happiness for eternity *she holds the rose bud in the flames as it burns and
then his hair* Now may they be in love forever *a puff of pink smoke appears and takes over Wilmort* Now Wilmot it is done.
Wilmot: Thats it then?
* he doesn't feel any different, but then how could he tell. She practically raked him over the coals last night. His body
was on fire. His chest had deep scratches and so did his back. He started putting on his clothes and made ready to leave.*
So Amour, what do I have to do now?
Amour: Is that it,
is that it, you come for my help I give you it and this is how you treat me *scowls* it can easy be taken away Wilmort. Do
I sense doubt in you Wilmot *she grows angry* I said trust me from the very begining... it will work when she see's you she'll
fall in love with you. Mary will take one look and the pink smoke will take over her and she will be yours.
Wilmot: I'm sorry Amour,
I didn't mean to offend you. I was simply asking what I need to do now. *pulls on his boots* I do not doubt you
at all. *stands up and walks over to her* you must understand, this has been driving me insane and if I appear to be
anxious, it is because I am. I've never had to resort to trickery for a woman before and I don't like doing
it now. *smiles at her* Now I'll be going. *walks towards the door*
Amour: *with one swift move
of her hand the door opens and she watches him leave* This is no trick Wilmot.
Wimot: *Runs down the
steps and jumps on Lightening. His whole body hurts from head to toe and he can't wait to get away from this
place! He sends Lightening to a slow trot as every move the horse makes causes him pain. He is still conflicted
even after all the pain he has just gone through. It will take a week at least for his wounds to heal. He'll use that time
to decide what he should do about Mary. Slowly, he heads home to his bed and a good glass of port.*
At the Barries’:
Donnie: *braces himself before ringing the door-bell of the Barries’ house. This is what he hates most about police-work…telling
people that their loved ones have been hurt. He looks at Louise gravely as she answers the door* Good afternoon…is Mr.
and Mrs. Barrie in? I need to have a word with them.
Louise: *her warm smile immediately fades upon seeing Donnie’s grave expression* Of course, Mr. Brasco. They
are in the living-room, come this way. *She leads him into the living-room; to James and Sarah* Chief-Inspector Brasco is
here to see you.
James: Thank you, Louise. *Smiles and shakes hands with Donnie* Have a seat…*notices Donnie’s expression
and his smile disappears* What is it?
Sarah: *she’s had an uneasy feeling for a few days without being able to explain it, but now she knows. This
is the visit she’s feared for years.* It’s Isabella, isn’t it?
Donnie: *looks at her. A little surprised at first that she instantly knew, but then he remembers Isabella’s
history and reputation; he nods* Yeah, it’s Isabella.
James: *takes Sarah’s hand and gently squeezes it* What happened?
Sarah: *with tears filling her eyes* I know you’d usually leave out details to spare the family of…the
victim, but I want to know everything. I need to know.
Donnie: *Nods* That’s good, because given the situation, I have to tell you everything. *Pauses for a moment,
then continues, but mostly to postpone what he’s really there to tell* Oh, Officer Hanson wants you to know that he’d
be here himself, but…I hope you understand.
Sarah: *earnestly* Please, tell me what happened to my sister!
Donnie: Yes, of course. *Takes a deep breath before he begins* Isabella went missing a few days ago; I’m sorry
that you weren’t informed. We didn’t want to worry or stress you until it was absolutely necessary. Hanson and
Sands went looking for her in From Hell Court, but had no luck. But last night, Sands met her at a tavern in the Court…she’s…vampires
got to her. *Looks at them* That’s why I had to tell you everything and can’t spare your feelings. You need to
know that Isabella is no longer your sister and if she comes here, don’t invite her in. A vampire can’t enter
the home of a human unless it’s been invited. *Goes on despite seeing how shocked they both are* And keep a cross, white
rose, and a bottle of holy water close to you at all times. I am truly sorry. We…Grace, Hanson, and I are trying to
find a way of turning her back. Hanson is talking to the Blakes about their experiences as we speak.
James: *looks at Sarah worriedly; he can’t quite fathom the idea of vampires despite all the stories and rumours
he’s heard*
Sarah: *dries her eyes and speaks quietly and a little monotone; clearly shocked by the news* You have to find her
and kill her.
James: *in surprise* What?
Donnie: But…let’s not do anything hasty; Hanson might find the answer at the Blakes.
Sarah: *rises from the couch; shakes her head* No, no…how many people will she kill before you find a solution?
No, if Isabella is gone to us, then let her truly be gone. Let her go with some dignity, let her rest in peace.
James: *rises and goes to Sarah* Sarah, let them at least try first…
Sarah: *tears now streaming down her face; shouts* I will not have my sister be a monster! *Sobs* I will not… *James puts his arms around her and holds her close*
Donnie: *quietly* I will leave you alone now. Keep in mind what I said about protecting yourselves.
James: I will…thank you, Mr. Brasco. Keep us posted. *Donnie nods
and quietly leaves them…it is getting late; he has no desire to be walking to streets after dark and possibly run into
Isabella, so he heads straight for Arwen*
At Elliott’s house:
Ava *opens the gate and walks
up to the door gently knocks on the door. waits patiently for some one to answer.*
Emina: *popping her head
around the door* Hello Ava
Ava: Hello Emina *smiles*
Emina: Come on in please
Elliott wont mind
Ava: Thanks Emina
Emina: *leads Ava into the
living room* Please sit *taps on the sofa* Oh my Ava aren't you showing now.
Ava: Sure am he's a little
critter now *laughs* wiggling around in there. Emina you'd never believe how much I have eaten in this past week *blushes*
too much
Emina: *laughs* Oh I could
now tell me what brings you here
Ava: You Emina
Emina: Oh I bet they sent
you to come and fetch me back
Ava: Oh no I came on my own
accord *smiles* I wanted to make sure you are ok Aaron is worried and so am I
Emina: As you can tell I
am fine *smiles* I am in heaven; I have Elliott and Dawn now. They have become my every thing *smiles*
Ava: That's good to hear
Emina *looks down* Aaron knew nothing of Ana decision in fact he hasn't spoken to her for three days now.
Emina: Oh … it still
doesn't make it right
Ava: I know it doesn't Emina
but I know it if she didn't you wouldn't have this *smiles*
Emina: it hurt a lot what
she did Ava
Ava: I know I can feel your
pain Emina *smiles* Emina soo tell me what's he like
Emina: Oh Ava he is the cutest
thing ever he made me breakfast in bed this morning. And you should see him he's the most heavenly thing ever *blushes* he
smells so good *blushes* He said he loved me Ava can you believe it
Ava: Of course I can Emina
your quite the catch you know *smiles* who's the lucky girl then, Don never did that *smiles* he'd order breakfast in *laughs*
so I take it you two are an item then?
Emina: *blushes* Yeah I think
so I mean we don't share beds we have our own rooms and he's always kissing me and holding me. *Whispers in Ava's ear* he
kissed me on my neck *giggles like a little girl* isn't that neat
Ava: *smiles even more* It
is Emina it sure is… I think that means you two are in a relationship Emina.
Emina: Yeah and Dawn testing
me I am on could be new mommy watch
Ava: Aww I bet she likes
having you around
Emina: I think so Ava I mean
she's the cutest thing ever you should see her
Ava: I could imagine *turning
serious* Emina I need to speak to Elliott alone if that is ok with you *smiles*
Emina: Sure Ava your going
to love him. *she heads into conservatory where Elliott is standing looking out
side. Walks up behind him and she wraps her arms around his waist. sighs jokingly* Elliott,
you have another women wanting your company *smiles* I am going to have to watch you all these woman after you *laughs* I
am going to have to beat them off soon … I must say they have such good taste.
Elliott *turns, smiles at
her, takes her in his arms* I don’t think you have to worry, my dear. *he glances past her* Who’s here,
who wants to see me?
Emina: *laughs* Ava
wants to see you *smiles at him and reaches up for a kiss* I don’t know what for but she said alone *shrugs* it most
be important *smiles* Shes in the living room Elliott.
Elliott *nods,
leaves her in the conservatory, goes to the living room, where he sees Ava* Ah,
Ava deMarco, I don't believe we've met. *comes to her, reaches a hand out
to her* I’m Elliott. Emina
tells me you wish to have a word with me. Can I get you anything, something to drink?
Ava *taking his hand she
shakes it* I really shouldn't but sure why not do you have any apple *before Ava can finish Emina is all ready placing a glass
of apple juice before her* juice. Emina understands my cravings for apple juice. Oh yes it's rather important to the both
of you *smiles* but I thought it was wise I told you. I would have told Emina but I fear it would be too much for her.
Elliott *nods slowly* Very well. *he takes a chair across from
the sofa, looks at her* Go ahead. What’s
goin’ on?
Ava: *takes a deep breath
in* I am assuming you all ready know Emina was orphaned as a baby. Well Elliott I myself have found out today whom her parents
are and well it’s a little unbelievable *sighs* Emina mother is Ana mother love-joy and her father is Don Francisco
Da Silva. You have to trust me on this Elliott *she looks up at him* do you know who Don Francisco Da Silva is? Before I go
any further.
Elliott *arches
a brow* Mrs. deMarco, I don’t have a clue of who any of these people are! See, I … my daughter and I, we’ve pretty much led a very quiet life ever
since we were reunited. I’ve come into good money in recent times, so I
feel confident that I can win any unpleasant obstacle my ex-wife may choose to throw at me in the future. But all the same, I’d rather it never come to that, so … Dawn an’ I have been living
very quietly, first outside the city at a friend’s home for awhile, an' now here in our own place. So you’ll find I know very little about the locals, other than the Barries, our friends down the street. *pauses, waves
a hand* Please, continue.
Ava: Please call me Ava *gulps*
I fear I will no longer be Mrs DeMarco, my husband has gone awol denouced love as it were ... Well Ana Love Joy is in charge
of the convent that kicked Emina out. I shall tell you the story when my husband Don Juan had well a fling with Don Francisco
Da Silva wife he was annoyed to say the least. And well one day he thought he'd have an affair with Dons Mother
and well you see the product of the affair was Emina. When Dons father found out about the affair he and Don Francisco Da
Silva had a dual sadly Dons father was killed. And Don stepped in however his mother wouldn't allow it couldn't lose
both of them. So Don backed down and held his dying father in his arms. *takes a deep breath in* So nine months later Dons
Mother gave birth to a little girl called Emina. *sighs* she was unable to give her away thats where Father Love-Joy comes
in you see. He took Emina to the convent of incarnation the convent where you found her. Father Love-Joy never left
the convent he wanted to see her grow up. One day Dons Mother joined the convent unknown to her, her daughter was there too.
Then Father Love-Joy decided it wasn't the best thing to tell her she was her daughter. So they told Emina she was abandoned
*pauses* Oh boy *takes a gulp of her apple juice* Now one day Father contacted Don Francisco Da Silva that he had
a daughter and he swore if she was ever to leave the convent he'd come and collect her. *sighs* this is where you come in
it is important that you listen very carefully.
Elliott *thinks it over* So, Don Juan deMarco is Emina’s half brother.
And her father is coming to take her back? Isn’t she old enough
to decide for herself what she wants to do with her life? *he pauses, shakes
his head, looks at Ava again* Go ahead, Mrs. deMar— er, Ava. What can I expect? What’s going to happen when he comes
here?
Ava: Yes you are right *sighs* Oh yes she is but you see Don Francisco Da Silva is old fashioned. A woman should
be married off and she should have a family. What to expect well he'll try to take her away for an arranged
marriage to some old pig. *shakes her head* and now I know that’s not what the both of you would want.
*looks away* he has a suitor ready for his daughter. *turns serious* He'll put up a fight he's not a nice man not
as nice man at all. *shudders*
Elliott: I see. *he lowers his head, thinks carefully
for what seems like a long time; finally, he looks at Ava, swallows* Ava …
I love Emina, I care for her a great deal. But there’s someone who’s
more important to me than anyone on earth, an’ that’s Dawn. I …
I hate to say this, but … this can’t be my fight. This is between
Emina an’ her father, and she needs to learn to fight him, or he’ll never stop making her do what he wants her
to do. I can’t take a chance on losing my daughter again. If this man comes looking for Emina, I’ll talk to him, gladly.
But beyond that, there’s little that I can do. She’s an adult,
she’s of age to do what she wants. *feels himself growing angry; he stands
up, starts pacing* Father Love-joy is a fool!
What kind of convent would allow something like this to happen? The convent
should offer her permanent asylum from an abusive father, especially when the same convent took her in years ago in the first
place. Hang all that rubbish about her leaving because she fell in love with
me! If the convent won’t help her, then … she needs to take this
issue to the law, perhaps even to the Vice Mayor. *he stops pacing, turns, looks
at Ava, his eyes sad* Truth be told, Ava … there’s not a lot I can
do for Emina. I have no lawful authority to get involved. Much as I care for her, I’m not ready to get married yet. *pauses,
adds* How does he think he’ll ever make her marry someone she doesn’t
want to marry? He can’t force her into that, not in these modern times. If he tries to hurt her, he’ll have the law on him. If he kicks her out, she knows now that she can stay here, or she can manage on her own somehow. I don’t see that he has much control over her. *smiles
slightly* This is a new millennium, Ava.
Women aren’t property anymore.
Ava: I understand *smiles*
Elliott I understand *grins* how do you feel about a game of disguise Elliott *grins* I have a plan if he's any thing
like Don which I am sure he is he's bound to fall for it ... Now would you like to here my plan *grins*
Elliott *a little doubtfully* I’m not sure I want to mess with trying to fool this guy, if he’s as dangerous
as you make him sound. But … go ahead, tell me your idea.
At Donnie’s office:
Grace *stays in Donnie’s office for a while after he’s left to go talk to Isabella’s family. She sits down by the desk, reaches into her pocket and takes out a small piece of
paper with a phone-number written on it. Then she picks up the receiver and starts
to dial the number, but as she’s about to dial the last digit, she hesitates.
She puts down the receiver and takes a deep breath. No, it isn’t
time to make the call just yet. She’ll wait till she knows if Manouche can help instead.
That would be better … that would be safer.*
