At From Hell Court:
Isabella *brings Abberline into her apartment. Not until they’re
inside does she realize how messy it is; she hasn’t concerned herself with household chores and there’s dirty
laundry on the floor and chairs as well as dirty dishes in the kitchen. Quickly
starts to gather the laundry* Sorry about the mess … *picks up a bundle
of clothes from the couch* Have a seat.
*she throws the clothes into the laundry basket and continues to the kitchen where she finds the brandy and two glasses. She sets the glasses and brandy on the coffee table and takes a seat; pours a glass
for them both and shrugs* To messing up?
Abberline *smiles faintly,
pulls off his jacket and throws it on a chair* To messing up. In every way, it seems. But you saw my room at From Hell Court,
so I shouldn't say anything ... *he lets his gaze wander around her apartment, accepts the brandy and downs it fast.* I still don't understand why you want to live alone at From Hell Court. You shouldn't. Who was
the nice man you referred to? I gather there is someone not belonging to the
dark and dangerous category? It can't be Donnie, though ... *he reaches for the
brandy and pours himself another drink, yawns.*
Isabella *takes a drink of the brandy and looks around the room* It doesn’t
always look like this … *she finishes her drink and pours another* I know
it’s not the safest of neighbourhoods, but I still feel more at home here than I would at a street such as Neverland
Avenue … I suppose it reminds me of New York, where I lived till my mother passed away and later when I went to college. *she deliberately keeps another reason for living in the Court to herself as she knows
it would only get her a lecture and she would have to tell him parts of her past that she doesn’t share with anyone. Laughs a little* Oh, it can’t be
Donnie? Well, you’re right, it’s not … it’s … *hesitates,
then a smile escapes her and she feels herself blush a little* … it’s Hanson.
*Rolls her eyes as she notices the expression on Abberline* Yes, I know,
most of you find him a little annoying for always trying to follow procedure, but really, he just wants to do a good job. He’s been good to me and we have fun together.
*Smiles again* He makes me laugh.
Abberline: And now you are thinking if he is too good for you. Maybe he
is, he seems like an innocent puppy to me ... What could he give you? *and he gazes at her again intensely and searchingly* Are you
sure that you want to laugh? *he smiles at her, puts down his glass* It's getting late, I should be going home already. You must
be tired, are you?
Isabella *lowers her eyes* I don’t want to mess up his life …
*looks up and meets his gaze* I don’t know … there’s so much
darkness in my life, maybe he could bring some light into it. *Shrugs* Perhaps the things about him that makes me smile now, won’t be as charming down
the road, but who would know? Sands suggested that I’d get bored …
maybe he was right. *Smiles a little* I
am exhausted, but I doubt I’ll be able to fall asleep.
Abberline: Or maybe you will bring darkness into his life. Have you thought
about that? *while he wonders what the deuce could be charming in Hanson* Do you want me to go?
Isabella: As I said, I don’t want to mess up his life and I don’t
want to hurt him, which I fear that I will if we got together. So yes, I have
thought of that. *Thinks about his question for a moment; on one hand it is getting
late and, with alcohol in the picture, the risk of a repeat of the events at the warehouses is increasing. On the other hand, they did discuss what happened … and why it happened. And she’s not overwhelmingly keen on being alone; smiles a little*
You can stay for a while longer if you want. I don’t mind the company. But I understand if you want to go home and see your kids.
At Vice Mayor Lisa’s:
Corey
*pulls up to the house, and parks the car in the drive. He's a bit sad being
there. He's happy for Lisa and Cesar, but at the same time wishes he could have
done something to hold onto her. But he knows that she never stopped loving Cesar,
and that this is for the best. He gathers the papers from the seat, gets out and walks up to the door. He takes a deep breath and rings the bell*
Cesar *having put the flowers
in a vase, hears the bell, goes to the door, opens it, smiles* Corey, thank you
for helping us. *he reaches out, shakes hands with him* Please, come in. *he brings Corey inside, closes the door* Lisa would like you to meet her upstairs, you’re to escort her to the gazebo. *glances at a clock in the hallway* We
still have a little time, would you care for a drink? There’s some brandy
in the den, and we’ll be opening some champagne after the ceremony. *he
takes Corey to the den, pours two glasses of brandy, hands him one; taps his glass against Corey’s* To the best man, cheers. *smiles, takes a drink*
Corey *returns the handshake,
follows Cesar into the house* Thanks aren't necessary; I'm glad to help. *Follows him to the den* Yes, a
glass of brandy would be great. *After Cesar's toast, offers up one of his own,
clinks glasses with Cesar again* To the bride and groom. *He takes a drink* So, has Aaron arrived yet? I have to admit, I was a bit shocked when she called me about this.
But I'm happy for both of you. Have you decided on a honeymoon yet? *He looks at Cesar, all dressed up. He
suddenly feels very jealous of him. Looks at his watch.* She's probably ready to do this; she can be so impatient. Maybe
I should go check on her? *suddenly remembers the papers* Oh! I almost forgot these; if you want to go ahead and sign
all the places marked for you, we can have this part out of the way. *Places
the papers on the desk, hands Cesar a pen.*
Cesar *watches him carefully,
nods* Yes, I’m all for getting the paperwork out of the way. Aaron should be here very soon. *he takes the pen from Corey,
signs, hands the pen back* There, done.
*smiles* Lisa is impatient at times, but even she knows we can do nothing
until Aaron arrives. However, I’m sure she would love to see you. Why don’t you go on up to her, I’ll take care of a few things down here. Just up the stairs and to the left. Oh,
and Corey … *he smiles at him, understanding* … Lisa is very grateful for your assist. She thinks the world of you.
Corey
*avoids his looks at him* Good, well, I'll take these papers to her and get her
signatures. Yes, she can be impatient, but a lot of that comes from her job. I'll go make sure she's okay. Thank you. *He almost glares at Cesar now, sensing a bit of sarcasm.* I'll go check on her. Tell us when Aaron arrives. *Corey goes up the stairs, finds the room and taps gently on the door*
Lisa, hey, it's me. Can I come in?
Lisa *Hears
Corey at the door.* Come in! *Corey
enters* Wow, am I glad to see you! *Goes
to him, kisses his cheek.* You look terrific!
So, are things okay downstairs? Has Aaron arrived?
Corey: No not yet. *Looks her over.* Wow, you look terrific! I brought the papers up for you to
sign. Cesar already signed them. *He
hands them to her, she takes them, signs, and hands them back to him.*
Lisa: Thanks! Are you sure I look okay? Corey, I'm so nervous! I'm so glad you
are here. *She stares into his eyes.* I
hated asking you to be here today. I know it's not the best of situations for
you. Thanks so much for doing this. I
really appreciate it. Maybe one last kiss goodbye? *She leans forward, kisses him gently, pulls back, looks in his eyes.*
I want to thank you for being here. It means so much. *She straightens his tie, looks at him again with a warm smile.* You're the best! Well, go on now,
and let me know when Aaron arrives. I'll be so honored to have you walk me to
Cesar.
Corey
*Almost speechless from the flood of words from her.* Yes, well, let me go see
if Aaron has arrived. I'll come for you as soon as they are ready. *He leaves the room; not sure what to say or do. That kiss
... why did she have to do that? He shakes it off, heads downstairs to see if
Aaron has arrived*
Cesar
*having heard Aaron’s car pull up, opens the door, greets him, brings him inside*
Aaron, good to see you! Come in.
*they go to the den, Cesar pours him a drink*
Aaron
*smiles, toasts* To the bride and groom.
This is a wonderful surprise! *they drink*
I take it all the papers are in order? Where is the happy bride?
Cesar: She’s upstairs, I think she’s ready anytime. Her friend Corey went to see about her, he’s going to walk her down the aisle. *quietly* I’m afraid he doesn’t like me much. The two of them have a history, you know.
Aaron: Well, I wouldn’t worry about it. I
don’t know Corey really well, but I know him well enough to be sure he wouldn’t have agreed to be here if he couldn’t
handle it. *he looks up, sees Corey coming down the stairs* Ah, there he is.
Cesar
*turns, to Corey* How is she, is she ready?
I suppose we can start anytime. *to Aaron*
Perhaps you and I should go on to the gazebo, Corey can bring Lisa.
Corey *descends the stairs* Ah, I see you made it Aaron! *approaches,
shakes his hand* And here are the signed documents. *hands them to Aaron,
then looks to Cesar* Yes, she's ready.
She looks lovely. So, if you two are ready, I'll give you a moment to
get to the gazebo, then I'll bring her out. *He goes to the kitchen to fetch
the bouquet, and then climbs the stairs, taps on the door* Lisa? It's time.
Lisa *Checks herself one
last time in the mirror, gets the wedding band, and opens the door* Ok, I'm ready. *She hands the ring to Corey, and takes the flowers from him. She takes his hand, and he leads her down the stairs, through the hall, and they exit out the patio
doors. Corey offers her his arm, and they proceed out to the garden path that
leads to the bridge. As they cross it, Lisa can see Cesar and Aaron in the gazebo;
Cesar is smiling and she can't help but smile back at him. When they
reach the gazebo, Corey walks her up to Cesar, kisses her cheek and moves off to the side.*
Aaron *looks on, smiles,
clears his throat* We are gathered here today to share with Lisa and Cesar their
joy as they begin their life together. I’ve known the two of you for some
time, and soon after receiving Cesar’s call earlier, I decided that the words of Kahil Gibran would be most fitting
for this happy occasion:
Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself. But if you love and must needs have desires,
let these be your desires: To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To know the pain
of too much tenderness. To be wounded by your own understanding of love; And to bleed willingly and joyfully. To
wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving; To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's
ecstasy; To return home at eventide with gratitude; And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart
and a song of praise on your lips
Aaron *looks at Corey, then
to Cesar* This has been very short notice, do we have rings? *Corey hands Lisa’s ring to Aaron; Cesar brings his diamond ring from a pocket, gives it to Aaron.* Very good. Now, Lisa, Cesar, please face
each other, and join hands. *he watches as Lisa hands her flowers to Corey, then
turns to Cesar, who’s beaming at her; they take each others’ hands, then look at Aaron, who smiles* Now, before the exchanging of the rings, I believe you both would like to share your vows. Lisa, you may begin.
Lisa *turns back to face
Cesar, looks deeply into his eyes* Cesar, my love, on this day I take you as
my husband. We once parted ways under clouded judgment, but we found our way
back to each other. I can't imagine a day without you in my life. You are my strength, my passion; the light of my life. You
make me complete. I will forsake all others for your love. I promise to love, honor, cherish, and care for you until we are parted by death. Il n'y a pas de plus grand amour que le nôtre. *smiles at him*
Cesar *smiling,
eyes shining, murmurs to her* Ma trésor,
you’re so beautiful and radiant. *he clears his throat, speaks a little
louder, but with great tenderness in his voice* Lisa, today I take you for my
wife. Now we will feel no rain, for we’ll be shelter for each other. Now there will be no loneliness, for we’ll be companion to one another. There is only one life before us, and our seasons will be good and long. I promise to love, honor and cherish you, no matter what lies before us, for as long as we both shall live. Tu es l'amour de ma vie.
Aaron *holds
up the rings* Because a ring has no end or beginning, it signifies the continuation
of true love. Lisa, please take Cesar’s ring, place it on his finger, and
repeat after me: ‘This ring is a token of my love. I marry you with this ring, with all that I have and all that I am.’
Lisa *takes the ring from
Aaron, takes Cesar's hand, puts the ring on his finger* This ring is a token
of my love. I marry you with this ring, with all that I have and all that I am. *looks up at Cesar, beaming.*
Aaron *nods;
to Cesar* Cesar, please take Lisa’s ring, place it on her finger …
Cesar *takes
the ring that he’d seen his mother wear, slips it onto Lisa’s finger; holds her hand for a moment, gazing at it,
blinking back happy tears. He suddenly looks up, sees Lisa and Aaron looking
at him expectantly, colors slightly* Désolé!
*to Lisa* I give you this ring as a token of my love and devotion to you. I pledge to you all that I am and all that I will ever be as your husband.
Aaron *smiles
broadly* By the power vested in me by the state of California, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You
may kiss. *Cesar takes Lisa into his arms, kisses her lips tenderly. Aaron beams at them, announces* It is my pleasure to present
Mr. and Mrs. Cesar Verón!
Lisa *after Cesar's kiss,
pulls back from him; looks at him, beaming* I can't believe we did it! I've
never been so happy! And this ring … Cesar, it's so beautiful. *she stares at the ring; it's so beautiful in its simplicity. She steps over to Corey, kisses his cheek and takes back her flowers, then turns her attention to Aaron;
kisses his cheek as well.* Thank you both for being here and all you've done
for us today. Cesar and I appreciate it very much. *she turns back to look at
Cesar, gazing in his eyes; still speaking to Aaron and Corey* Will
you excuse us? I would like to go to the house and share a toast of champagne
with my husband now. *She takes Cesar's hand, and leads him out of the gazebo,
down the path, back towards the house.* So, my love, we still have to decide
on this honeymoon ...
Cesar *calls
back to Aaron and Corey* Thank you both!
*he grins as Lisa firmly leads him away from the others, to the house* I
can see who’s boss around here! *they enter the house, find the champagne
chilling. Cesar pours glasses for them both, hands Lisa one* To my beautiful bride. *they clink the glasses together, drink. He nods toward her ring* That was my
mother’s ring. I never hoped to find a woman I would wish to have wear
it. It looks as if it’s made for you. *he
gazes at her, eyes smouldering* The honeymoon … I was thinking about that
earlier, and I have an idea. If you prefer to know everything, we won’t
do it, but … I’d like to surprise you. *he smiles mysteriously* Pack about a week’s worth of clothes, mostly comfortable, casual, for warm weather
… and bring one good dress. Then let me whisk you away, and you’ll
find out where I’m taking you when we get there. I feel very certain you’ll
like it. *he takes her glass, sets it down next to his, turns to her, takes her
in his arms, looks deeply into her eyes* What do you think, care to start our
life together on a little adventure?
Lisa *clinks glasses with
him* To my handsome husband *drinks with him.* Oh Cesar, I'm so honored to wear your mother's ring. It means
so much that you wanted me to have it. *Feels herself melt under his gaze; listens
to his words about the honeymoon* Yes, whatever you want .. adventure it is.
I don't want the details. I want
you to surprise me. I will pack right away. *she
kisses him, reluctantly pulls away, and goes up the stairs to the bedroom to pack.*
Cesar *watches her go, lights
a cigarette while he waits. He glances out the window, sees Aaron and Corey talking. He considers going out to
chat with them, but somehow he feels better just being alone with his thoughts right now, on this happiest day of his life.
He's just anxious to escape, so they can be alone. He's already paid Aaron for his services, Aaron and Corey know where
the champagne is, they'll be fine. As he finishes his cigarette, he looks up, beams as he sees Lisa coming down the
stairs, carrying a suitcase and smiling happily. Without a word he approaches her, takes the case from her, sets it
on the floor, takes her in his arms and kisses her deeply. He releases her, they smile, he picks up her suitcase and
grabs his as well, which he had packed earlier and set by the door. Lisa links her arm in his, they quickly leave
the house through the front, take one of her cars; Cesar helps her into the passenger side, then quickly gets in behind the
wheel. He starts up the car, pulls away from the house, and they head off for their secret honeymoon*
At Bournemouth House:
Raven *opens the door, mouth
drops open in surprise as he sees Kat* M-Mother!
*he rushes to her, flings his arms around her* I’m so glad to see
you! Are you all right? *looks up
at her anxiously*
Kat *Returns
his hug* I be most pleased to see ye as well luv.
*Looks into his eyes and replies in a serious tone.* Raven, there be somethin'
I gotta do. It involves convincin' yer father te do what 'e'll 'ave no likin'
for. 'opefully given 'nuff time that would change and 'e'll see it as the right
way te go, savvy? *Hesitates, removes a ring from her finger holds it out to
Raven* I want ye te take this and hold it secret, least 'til I say elsewise,
eh? Then maybe we can go inside and see Chiana.
Raven *looks
at her carefully, takes the ring from her, examines it. He looks at her again,
his eyes solemn, nods* Sure, Mother, I’ll keep it safe. You can count on me. And if you'll tell me more about what's
goin' on, I'll try to help you convince Father. *he puts the ring carefully in
a secure pocket, looks up at her, smiles* I’m so glad you’re here. Father’s away, I don’t know where he is, he said he was goin’ to
work. *he takes her hand* But come
see Chiana, she’s been missin’ you. I don’t know if she’s
awake, Candy fed her awhile ago an’ then put her to bed in your room. *he
takes her upstairs, brings her to the master bedroom, to Chiana’s bed. He
peeks in at her, smiles* Oh, she’s just woke up! Sit down, Mother. *he brings Kat over to the bed, sits her
down; he goes to Chiana, reaches down, carefully picks her up, brings her to Kat, puts her in Kat’s arms* There, sis, Mama’s back. *grins*
Chiana *gazes
up at Kat, smiles, waves a tiny fist, coos* Ma-ma!
Kat *Chiana
wiggling in her lap.* 'old on luv, ye've been growin' a bit I see. *glances at Raven* Ye both be growin'
up a might too fast, it seems. Raven, do ye recollect back when ye first seen
yer father and ye mistakenly thought 'e didna want ye or e'en see ye and 'ow that made ye feel?? Ye wouldna wish that feelin' on 'nuther child would ye?
Raven *smiling
at Chiana, hears Kat’s words, his smile fades* No, never. That was a horrible time, one of the worst things I ever felt. I
… I wanted to die. *he looks at Kat, tries to sense what she’s talking
about, can’t quite get it* Wh-who are you talkin’ about, Mother? Are you … *he smiles a little at the thought, even though he knows that many
problems would come along with it* … are you havin’ another baby?
Kat *Quickly*
No, not that. I chose not te.
*Winces as Chiana captures a fist of her hair and pulls. Looks at Chiana, remembering
the fear that Chiana might possibly harbor any of Metrea's traits and what could happen if another babe threatened
her place at the center of her da's universe. Now everything seems to have turned
upside down and backwards. It was Metrea's child that concerned her, being
raised to hate her own sister and brother. Someday maybe even becoming a threat
to their lives. Sighs, looks back at Raven, searching for the words to tell
him. Realizes there are none that can explain how Abby accidentally slept with
his aunt. Stammers* Maybe t'would
be best if I just wait for yer da, eh??
Raven *watches
her closely, eyes narrowed; he’s sensing something from her, something about Abberline and Metrea; but it seems so impossible,
he can’t bring himself to speak of it. He nods slowly* Okay, Mother, whatever you want. *he decides to drop it; he’s
been missing Kat so much, he wants to enjoy their time together. He smiles, nods
toward Chiana* Look at her grab your hair!
She missed you. We both wish you’d stay … but if you can’t,
I understand. But please let me know where you’re stayin’. I waited so long to find you, an’ I want you in my life. *he
pauses, thinks of something* Mother, can I bring you anything? Something to eat or drink, while we wait for Father?
Kat *Smiles
nervously.* No worries, sweet. I
intend te be near at hand for a time at least. *Thinks, Abby will have no rest from me until he sees reason.* Aye lad, a
bit of rum might just take the edge off.
Raven *nods,
dashes from the room, soon returns with two glasses and the rum bottle from the sitting room.
He sets the glasses on the table next to the bed, fills one glass near capacity, puts a little splash in the other
glass. He hands the full glass to Kat, takes the other one for himself. He straightens his posture, as if he’s about to make a speech, clears his throat* Mother … I know I shouldn’t drink, I’m too young, but I wanna say
something. Awhile back, when Manouche found me at Marchand’s, we were allowed
some rum, an’ she gave me a little taste. *grins slightly* I didn’t like it! I still don’t … but …
it did give me a little courage then, an’ I feel like I should have some now.
*he pauses for a moment, then the words gush forth in a flurry* I don’t
always know everything that goes on between you and Father, but I want you to know that I love you both, an’ I never
really thanked you for leavin’ me with someone as wonderful as True Dreamer, she took such good care of me, an’
she told me wonderful stories about you, an’ I’m proud of the stuff I inherited from both of you. I was always so proud to be your son, an’ … I still am.
*he stops suddenly, feels a little self-conscious. He grins boyishly,
and his hair falls into his eyes, so much like Abberline’s. He pushes it back impatiently* I’m proud of you, too, Mother. *he glances at Chiana,
who’s staring at him very solemnly; he leans forward slightly, taps his glass against Kat’s* To the Cassidy-Abberlines, an’ to True Dreamer. An’
… *he suddenly looks very grim, in a rather grown-up way* … to hell with Marchand.
*drinks*
Kat *Staring
at him in astonishment raises an eyebrow* Son, sometime I think ye may 'ave spent
entirely too much time with Manouche. *Gulps down some rum* She be the onliest one I know that could stand a chance o' matchin' that verbal avalanche. Cheers luv. *Finishing off her rum.*
Raven *blushes
slightly, mutters* Sorry. *pours
more rum for Kat, grins* Maybe that’s from Father’s side. He can talk pretty flowery when he gets goin’. Would
you like me to try an’ see where Father is? I probably could find him. *he looks at the bottle, shrugs, pours a little more for himself, drinks it, grimaces;
shakes his head at the bottle, wonders what the grownups see in this stuff, though he has to admit, it’s having a rather
soothing effect on him. He looks at Chiana, laughs at the comical expression
on her face* I think Chiana wants to show you what she can do these days. *he takes her from Kat, puts her on the floor, she immediately starts crawling. She crawls to one of the bedposts, and Raven exclaims as she pulls herself up and
stands up* Look! I’ve never
seen her do that before!
Chiana *lets go with one hand and turns at the sound of Raven's voice. Grins
and release's the bed entirely taking a wobbly step toward Raven squealing in delight.*
'ven .... 'ven ... *Drops on her bottom, then glares at Raven as if it were his fault.
Starts to whimper.*
Kat *Downing her own glass.* Bloody 'ell, you two be just full of surprises
today. I think I need 'nuther drink.
Raven *obligingly
fills Kat’s glass again, sets the bottle down, goes to Chiana, smiles* I’m sorry, Chiana! I distracted
you, didn’t I? *he picks her up, frowns as he sees something clutched in her tiny fist. He drops down to
the floor, holds her in his lap, gently pries her fingers open, takes the object from her. She giggles loudly at him,
as if she’s just played a marvelous joke on him. She then starts squirming, and he realizes she wants to crawl
more* Okay, go ahead, baby sister. *he positions her on the floor, and she’s off to the races again, squealing
with delight. He stands up, comes over to Kat, shows her the object* Look what Chiana found … must’ve
been under the bed. *he hands her a necklace with a small silver pendant, in the shape of a shovel.* It's pretty.
*grins* It must've been specially made just for you, who else would have a shovel as a pendant? Did Father have
it made for you?
Kat *Studying
the pendant* Yer father wouldna be pleased.
She already be showin' the pirate trait o' goin' for the shine, as it were. *Turning
gloomy* No, yer da be not one for such an unladylike trinket. *Forgetting her surroundings momentarily* Bloody men, always
keepin' their brains twix their .... *Looks back at Raven and shoving the pendant in her pocket.* errr ... ne'er mind, best see te Chiana, she be 'eaded for the door.
Raven *looks
at her curiously, not completely understanding what she says, but wanting to soothe her concerns* Don’t worry, Mother, all babies go for shiny things. I’m
sure Father would know that. Besides, he loves Chiana no matter what, she’s
his baby girl. *he runs over to grab Chiana before she crawls out of the room,
turns her around, she starts crawling again, heading for Kat. He grins* Here she comes …
Chiana *crawls
quickly to Kat, stops, looks up at her, stretches a hand to her* ‘tuga! ‘TUU-GAA!! *she looks at Kat with
an almost demanding expression*
Kat *Picking
her up. Speaks sternly* Now
'ear this, young lady, there'll be no runnin' off te no Tuga for ye 'til ye be at least 40 and that's an order, savvy???
Chiana *scowls
at her for a second, then breaks into a smile, beaming with all her charm. She
stretches her arms out to Kat, grasps her hair, coos* Maa-maa, pretty. *she brings the lock of Kat’s hair to her mouth, nibbles at it, still staring at Kat; then she gets
a mischievous glint in her eye, and she yanks on her hair, hard; as Kat exclaims in surprise, she quickly follows with a disarming
smile, coos again* Maa-maaa. *she
giggles merrily*
Kat: Listen lass ye may 'ave yer da dancin' te yer jig but I see through ye.
That trick be not a bad thin' though just don't go forgettin' it when yer older and the scoundrels come trollin'. Smile real sweet right up till ye serve up a well-placed knee, savvy?? *Sighs tiredly* But till then luv, leave off of me 'air, eh?
Chiana *stares
raptly at Kat, listening to every word. She suddenly lets go of her hair, claps
her chubby hands, squirms and leans forward, wrapping her arms around Kat’s neck*
Ma-maa … *she giggles* ‘nee!
‘nee! *she laughs heartily, then her little smile fades and she
starts to whimper*
Raven *comes
back into the room, having gone to fetch a bottle. He brings it to Kat, hands
it to her* Here, I thought she might be getting hungry. *he watches Kat feed Chiana, who takes the bottle eagerly; he feels a surge of happiness to have his mother
back home* When you’re done feedin’ her, you wanna take a little
nap with her? I’ll make sure nobody disturbs you. Father may be awhile yet. I’ll keep an eye out for him,
let him know you’re here soon as he gets home.
Kat: Aye, sure thin'. Oh, and so ye know, I couldna be prouder
of ye, and don't go forgettin' it, savvy? *Stifling a yawn* Ta luv, go find a bit of fun for yerself. I'll be 'ere. *Goes back to feeding Chiana*
Raven *smiles
warmly* Thanks, Mother. *he kisses
the top of Chiana’s head, leans in and kisses Kat’s cheek. He goes
to the door, turns back, takes another look at Kat feeding Chiana, grins as he sees that they’re both getting drowsier
by the second. He turns, closes the bedroom door softly, goes to his room, leaving
his door open so he can hear in case Kat needs him, or so he can hear when his father comes home*
At an undisclosed location:
*A woman in a veil sits and
studies a candle in a dark room she sits on her knees and she is mute and she doesn’t move at all. The woman does this

they haven’t seen the light for a many of a moon they now depict a new set of pictures. The woman opens the door and
closes it behind her, she runs down the narrow corridor and through the courtyard to a room where other woman wearing veils
are gathered. The woman out of breath she burst through the door
Woman: It is starting the
candle is burning it burns strong *breathing heavily* the flame is pure it’s golden. The incarnation is on its
way. The candle burned in front of me I am now covered in its holy rays I am blessed. I saw the holy pictures upon the wall
they are beautiful I am the first to see those pictures, the Holy Scriptures were right all along. Oh thank you my lord
thank you I am ever your humble servant *from that the woman passes out and all the other woman in the room touch her, as
she has been deemed pure*
At the DeMarcos’:
Ava *wakes up in the middle
of the night she sits bolt upright and she holds onto her stomach she can feel the baby’s heart beating she feels it
thudding inside her. This is the start of her baby’s life Ava holds her breath now she feels pregnant her baby is no
longer a bunch of cells its now a baby more like a tadpole but it’s still her baby, their baby a DeMarco, she now feels
slightly unsettled by it though she never felt like this with the twins. She can feel both their bloods intertwining then
it hits her like a ton of bricks she has this overwhelming urge to be with a man seduce a man sleep with a man. She
looks over to Don but she feels repulsed by him she can’t understand why, she loves it when she has that kind of fun
with him she shakes her head. She lies back down and tries to ignore the craving but it grows stronger and stronger as the
time goes by. She has to get herself some right now she jumps out of bed still in her pyjamas she knows the right man who
can satisfy her needs. She steps into her car and drives to the man who will do anything for her. She parks the car and knocks
on the door and the man she wants opens the door.*
George: Ava *rubbing his
eyes and he yawns the TV is still on* it’s you it’s late
Ava: sure is I *she
passionately kiss him and she closes the door with her foot and she pushes George onto the sofa.*
George: Well Ava if I get
this kind of response when I see you boy you can come here any time of the night
Ava: George I have to have
you right here right now no excuses I don’t need them.
George: I am all yours baby
Ava: *throws him down on
the sofa and they have their fun over and over again.
*she now feels the craving disappear now she starts realising what she has done she leaves a sleeping George
in bed and drives home. When she arrives home Don is still sleeping like baby she smiles at him and starts a shower and jumps
in it. She cleans herself so she smells fresh and she doesn’t smell of a man; she puts new pyjamas on and climbs back
into bed*
At the doctor’s office:
Alifi *laughing as she and
Bette return to the office* My dear, thank you, that was lovely! I must say, you do know some very funny stories about some otherwise very pompous charlatans from Fiji!
Bette *grins* Lionel and I spent enough time there, I heard plenty! I have
more, so don’t be a stranger. Wait’ll I tell you about— *her voice is cut off as they see Dr. Viland sitting at Bette’s desk, resting
his head in his hands, frowning, deep in thought* Oh … how did it go, darling? Is something amiss?
Viland *looks up at them,
bewildered* Strangest thing … very, very strange …
Alifi *rushes forward* What, what is it? Is she not pregnant?
Viland: Well … she’s pregnant. But …
Alifi *swallows* She’s in trouble because of the bite, isn’t she? Oh,
what can we do for her, there must be something …
Viland: Th-there seems to be no progress with the bite. Because I
was aware of it and knew what to look for, I could tell she’s got some foreign substance, venom for want of a better
word, and it’s making its way through her system. But honestly, its progress
is so slow, it’s nigh undetectable. I wouldn’t have seen it if I
weren’t looking for it. *he looks at Alifi, shrugs* For the time being, it’s not a problem.
Alifi *sighs with relief,
then looks at him carefully* Then what, Lionel?
What aren’t you telling us?
Viland *looks at her* The baby … it isn’t hers.
Alifi: What? Wh-what do you mean, it isn’t hers?
Viland: It isn’t hers. Something seemed odd about it, so I decided
to run a few tests. *he stands up, picks up a manila folder on the desk, hands
it to Alifi* Here, it’s all stuff you’re probably familiar with,
alchemy and the like.
Alifi *opens the folder,
shuffles through the papers, reads, frowning* Yes and no. I mean, it’s more involved than anything I ever tried myself.
*she looks at him* What does this mean?
Viland *runs a hand through
his hair* The baby isn’t hers. She’s
a surrogate.
Bette: But … *turns to Alifi* She wouldn’t have volunteered
to be a surrogate for someone! She didn’t even think she was capable of
bearing children, isn’t that what you told me, Alifi?
Viland: She may not have been capable at one time, but she is now. At
least, she is for this child.
Alifi *eyes wide* What do you mean, for ‘this’ child? Is this some
sort of black magic?
Viland: I wish I knew. *he takes the file back from her, pulls a sheet
from it, hands it to her to read* Here, I’ve come up with something, I’ve
performed this test many times, and it’s been correct every time. It’s
similar to a DNA test. It should tell us the parentage of the embryo.
Alifi *reads, nodding* Why … Lionel Viland, this is brilliant!
How did you ever come up with this?
Viland *grins modestly* By spending a bit too much time in the lab and away from my wife. *brings an arm around Bette, who smiles, hugs him back* However,
I’m unsure of the results this time. If this is indeed a curse, or amria, of some sort, then chances are the deed was performed by muló – dark spirits. In which case this test will only confirm that the child isn’t an offspring
of Manouche and her husband. *glances at the sheet of paper* The reason I came up with this in the first place was because, some time ago, a young woman came to me
and was horribly distraught because she was pregnant and had had an affair. The
affair had since ended, and she was terrified that the baby wasn’t her husband’s.
I’d been messing about with this idea, so I tried it. It was harmless
to her and her baby, and I figured if it didn’t work, she would be no worse off than before. Sure enough, it worked. I repeated the test many times after
that with patients who were willing, who found the concept fascinating even though they didn’t need the information. And I’ve run it successfully on surrogate mothers, as well. It’s extraordinary, each time, it gave me the correct identities of the two parents of the child
the surrogate mother was carrying! And fairly early on in the pregnancy, too. *snorts indignantly* I’ve tried
to push the concept to colleagues, but no one in the medical profession outside the Rom community gives me any credence. They refuse to believe, they think it’s trickery of some sort, won’t even
give it a chance. *scowls* Blasted
gadje.
Alifi
*finishes reading, hands the page back to him* So … you’re quite
certain the child isn’t Manouche and Blake’s?
Viland
*shakes his head sorrowfully* I could be wrong, but I don’t think I am. I’m very sorry. I have no idea
how something like this could’ve happened to her, but … given the other things that have happened to her in her
lifetime, I suppose this isn’t so unbelievable. I haven’t told her
yet. I was just trying to figure out how I would break it to her when you both
came in. *pauses, looks at Alifi* Once
I have the results of this test, we can go from there, see what can be done. If
this is indeed the work of muló … it may be in the best interest of her health to terminate …
Manouche *having gotten dressed,
sits in the examination room on the small bed, her arms wrapped around her shoulders, as if chilled. She stares in stunned silence at the closed door. Dreamer-like,
she’s heard every word; she feels hot tears behind her eyes, for some reason they won’t come forth … *
At Sacred Mists:
Ava *sits behind the counter
in Sacred Mists she waits for Romany she has started to worry about her as she hasn’t called or replied to any of her
messages. And finally she walks through the door hand in hand with Sam Ava runs around to the front of the counter and flings
her arms around Romany.* Oh Romany, I have been worried sick about you *pauses*
talking about being sick excuse me *runs off to the bathroom to be sick and she returns with a mint in her mouth. * Don’t
you just love the smell of testosterone in the morning *Ava breathes in*
Romany: Ava are you ok I
am sorry that I wasn’t answer your calls I have been moving into Sam’s place.
Ava: Oh Sam *holds her hand
out* nice to meet you so I see you have stolen Romany heart *winks* don’t worry you two every is excellent between you
and it will always be perfect. Now Romany don’t do that to me again boy I was going to send a search party out for you.
*she grabs her bag* Romany I am going to have to go love Sam it was very nice to meet you look after her *smiles*
Sam: Certainly Ava bye Ava
Romany: Ava what should I
tell Don if he comes by
Ava: *pausing* umm tell him
that I have some urgent business that needs to be attended to *smiles* my phone is dead it’s on charge if it rings just
answer it Romany. *She smiles and walks out the door*
The sun is shining in Deppville
and Ava decides to take a walk she couldn’t be stuck in the shop no more she had to be free from it. She walks cheerfully
in the sun it caresses her skin with it’s golden rays. She starts to sing a little nursery rhyme to herself; she never
intended to sing it but she just sings it any ways.* Horsey horsey don't you stop. Just let your feet go clippetty clop. Your tail goes swish and the wheels go round.
Giddy up, we're homeward bound. *She finds herself walking out of the shopping
district of Deppville and into open fields. She can feel the feeling that she
felt a few nights before. She follows her instinct and she walks through the fields when she discovers a certain smell of
a creature that she loves. She picks a stem of lavender and weaves it into her hair and she breathes in deep she can smell
all the wild flowers. She walks over a bridge and straight towards a set of stables, she can feel her blood rush around her
body as she grows closer to the stables. She happily smiles to herself*
At Bournemouth House:
Raven *in his room after
having left Kat, tries to read but can’t concentrate; he starts to wonder where his father may be. He’s been gone quite awhile, and Raven also knows that sometimes he prefers to sleep in From Hell
Court, where he can avoid coming home to face painful reminders. Then he brightens
a little as he thinks to himself* Father
doesn’t know that Mother’s here. Maybe that’ll make him want
to come home. She wants to see him … maybe she wants to come home for good. *he considers this thought, knows in his heart that it’s not likely; but he
can’t help but hope for it. He sits up straight on the bed, sets the book
aside, closes his eyes, starts to concentrate, trying to contact Abberline* Father … Father, it’s not urgent if you’re busy, but come home when
you can. Mother’s here, she wants to talk to you. Come home when you can, Father …
At From Hell Court:
Abberline: Thanks. *he gets up, puts out the cigarette in the ashtray,
leaning close to her, and he strokes her cheek* I'll see you tomorrow then. Unless you take my advice and find a more suitable profession for a young girl ...
*he smiles, teasing her, but then he suddenly turns serious, he has an odd dizzy feeling in his head, he leans for support
on the sofa, goes pale and sinks back, holding his head. Father … Father,
it’s not urgent if you’re busy, but come home when you can. Mother’s here, she wants to talk to you.
Come home when you can, Father … It's Raven, inside his head. So Kat
is back, for a reconciliation once more, but he can't take anymore. Soon after,
there will be yet another breakup and making up* Sorry. I have to leave now.
Isabella *laughs; she knows he’s only teasing her now; with a cheeky smile*
And turn into a proper lady? Never!
*Looks at him with concern* Sure … are you alright? Should I call you a cab?
Abberline: No. I'll be all right.
My children are waiting for me. *he staggers up* I will see you tomorrow then at the office. Thanks for the
drinks. As for the slap, I think I deserved that one, but not the knee. Someday there will be a payback. *and
with that, he leaves her apartment, and once he is on the street, he leans against the wall and lights a smoke. It really gets on his nerves that someone enters his head. Raven
wouldn't do it unless it was something extremely important. He shakes his head,
feeling better and starts to walk homeward. Isabella really should move out of
this place. Why does she do that all to herself, what makes her strive after
danger so much? She is not half as strong as she pretends to be*
At Rartigillichal:
Manouche *having
guided the wagon back into its space near the garage and unhitched Blodwyn, leads the mare into the stable, where Peire and
Gaston watch them enter. She brings Blodwyn to her stall, removes her gear, starts
brushing her down; glances up as Alifi enters the stable behind her* No
need t’ help me ‘ere, luv, I know yer tired.
Alifi *sniffs
indignantly* I’m not that tired …
Manouche *grins
slightly* Ye could barely keep yer eyes open durin’ that last mile. Go on in, an’ if ye see Mr. Blake or Chírilo, tell ‘em I’ll be there
directly. I need t’ see to th’ horses. Ye know me, I rather like me time with ‘em.
Alifi *steps
closer to Manouche, puts a hand on her shoulder* I’m so sorry things didn’t
turn out as we’d hoped. But … you’ll be sound, Dr. Viland is
very good, and … who knows, if this is happening now, perhaps in the future—
Manouche *lowers
her head, murmurs* Please don’t talk about it, savvy?
Alifi *watches
her, deeply concerned; nods* All right.
Don’t stay out here too long, you need your rest, too. *she leans
in, kisses her cheek* Goodnight, bird.
*she turns, wraps her shawl around her shoulders, leaves the stable.*
Manouche *glances
up after a moment, sees that Alifi’s gone; returns to her work grooming Blodwyn*
There ye are, lil’ queen. *Blodwyn snorts appreciatively, Manouche
laughs* Aye, vive la reine! ‘Ere, let me get some oats fer yer highness. *she pours
food for Blodwyn, hears some impatient sounds coming from Peire* Ah, don’t
think I’ve forgotten ye, mate. An’ that goes fer th’ lil’
prince, as well. *she glances at Gaston, smiles*
Though ye ain’t so little anymore, are ye, Gaston? *Gaston shakes
his mane, whinnies* I miss me lil’ colt, but yer turnin’ into th’
spittin’ image o’ yer dad, an’ that’s a fine thing, that is.
*she finishes feeding them, tops off their water, goes around petting each of them.
She digs in her pocket, finds some sugar cubes from the last time she was at Chez Roux; unwraps them, gives equal share
to each horse* Bit o’ dessert fer ye, luvs.
*she sits down on a barrel next to Peire’s stall, looks around at them*
Now, Blodwyn ‘ere’ll no doubt fill th’ pair o’ ye in, since she were there an’ she were
privy to it all. But I may as well tell ye what I learned today, an’ that
is, I’m in a family way, as it were. Th’ problem is, I ‘ave
no idea whose family, savvy? *Peire snorts loudly, shakes his head* Aye, I know, mate, I wouldn’t ‘ave thought it possible, either.
*shakes her head* Leave it to ol’ Manouche t’ get ‘erself
in a fix like this. Fer years, I can’t ‘ave children, then I finally
can, an’ what do I get? Bleedin’ surrogate motherhood. *sighs, reaches for her cigarettes, lights one. Blodwyn neighs
sharply at her; Manouche scowls* Sod it!
What do I care? It ain’t a child o’ Mr. Blake’s an’
mine, it’s … well, I ‘ave no idea whose it is. Th’ doctor
says th’ test takes a coupla days, he’ll be callin’ me when he finds out.
*looks at the cigarette, holds it up for Blodwyn to see* So y’see,
chances are I won’t be carryin’ it t’ term anyway. An’
even if I decide t’ go through with it … s’all gab, innit, all that rubbish about ciggies, an’ alcohol,
an’ coffee durin’ pregnancy. Blimey, me mum did all o’ the
above, an’ I turned out fine. Any physical trouble that came me way were
later, an’ of me own doin’. *she starts to take a puff, hears Blodwyn
sniff gently; she looks at her, sees the pretty dark eyes staring at her dolefully*
Ahhh, bollocks. *she drops the cigarette to the floor, jumps down, snuffs
it out thoroughly with her boot, goes to the water container, takes a dipper ful, brings it back, pours it over the spot where
she dropped the cigarette. She crouches down, picks up the cigarette, puts it
in her pocket; looks at Blodwyn, who’s still fixing her with a baleful gaze. She
speaks to the horse again, this time her voice gentle* No worries, I ain’t
plannin’ on sneakin’ a smoke in private. I’m jus’ takin’
the bloody thing inside to dispose of proper, savvy? Couldn’t live with
meself if I burned yer stable down. *she steps over to Blodwyn, brings her arms
around her neck* Cheers, pet. *she
kisses the soft muzzle, then goes around to the other two with the same ritual.* Right,
‘ave a fine rest, luvs. I’ll see ye in th’ mornin’. *she sighs deeply* Th’ next two
days are gonna be long ones, t’ be sure. I don’t know which I’ll
hate worse, th’ waitin’, or what I learn at th’ end of th’ waitin’. Fer th’ life o’ me, I can’t imagine how it can be good news. *she goes to the door, turns, looks at them once more, murmurs to them in Rom* Te pabaren mange memelia.
*she switches off the light, closes and secures the door, heads for the house to have supper with Blake*
At From Hell Court:
*The blonde haired lady turns
around as she hears some one behind her and Sweeney disappears in to the woods. Sweeney makes his way to from hell court he
needs a kill and he needs one now.*
Sweeney *walks through From
Hell court where he spots a beautiful woman with flame red shoulder length hair, she is wearing a white dress. Sweeney knew
she was going to the one she stared into his eyes and smile for her lips were the colour of the roses that grew down the river
all bloody and wild. Sweeney follows her to her home and knocks on her door. The flame red haired women answers the door and
lets him in*
Sweeney: I couldn’t
help but notice your beauty I had to tell it to your face. Hello there my name is Todd
Elisa: *giggles* why thank
you Todd my name is Elisa, Elisa Day nice to met you *she holds out her hand* why is such a fine fellow like yourself doing
in the deeps of despair of From Hell court.
Sweeney: *he takes her hand
and kisses it* I saw you and I had have you your such a beautiful woman.
Elisa: Why don’t you
come inside *smiles* here have some rum that’s all I got. *Smiles* come sit Todd
Sweeney: *Sweeney takes a
drink of the rum and they both become acquainted to each other* Thank you Elisa now I must go *Sweeney stands up and turns
to leave when Elisa grabs his wrist he turns and grins at her* Elisa
Elisa: *walks up to him her
trembling subsided in his sure embrace and he would be her first man and with a careful hand Sweeney wipes the tears
that ran down her face* Thank you Todd maybe I could see you tomorrow.
Sweeney: Yes Elisa we shall
meet again tomorrow Thank you for the lovely welcome I hope I didn’t cause you to much pain *smiles and he leaves Elisa’s
place*
At Luc’s stables:
Jake *gallops across the green meadow on Princess Baby with the wind in his face.
He slows down the horse to a steady trot as they reach the narrow path leading into town and follows it to the bridge
above the brook. He notices the woman walking a bit ahead of them and slows down
Princess to a comfortable walk … he recognizes the woman as he comes nearer; he’s seen her in town a few times. Flashes her a smile as he rides alongside her*
Good morning, miss … ?
Ava *smiles back at him*
Good Morning to you too it's such a pretty day I just had to escape and go for a walk away from town. *looking at the horse
and then Jake* What a pretty horse you have they have such grace a beauty don't they. Let me introduce myself I
am Ava I would offer you my hand but it seems your hands are other wise engaged in something else *giggles and flutter
her eyelashes*
Jake *Lets his eyes linger for a moment; she sure is a pretty woman* It’s
nice to meet you, Ava. I’m Jake and this is Princess. Yes, they are magnificent animals. *He dismounts and lands
on the ground next to Ava; he takes the range in one hand and gently takes Ava’s hand with the other; smiles* Easily fixed … and I must say, I admire your bluntness. Not a lot of women have the confidence for that.
Ava: Nice to meet you Jake *smiles
as he takes her hand* Nice to meet you princess sadly I don’t have nothing to give you I bet you like
apples you look like an apple eater *laughs* ah you see Jake one has to be blunt sometimes because you just waste time beating
around the bush you know. Why waste time pretending to big yourself up when you could spend more time doing what you
really want. *smiles* It only takes a few minutes for a man *pauses and looks at Jake* or a women *looks away again* to either
like you or not so why become a bore I say.
Jake *smiles* Oh yes, she
does like apples ... *nods as he listens to Ava* I see, a real 'live life in the
moment' philosophy … and you're right. It only takes a second to know if
you're drawn to someone or not. It's once you start looking for 'deep and meaningful'
you need time. *Hesitates; he doesn't really care all that much, because he doesn't
consider it his transgression, but he wants her to be sure of what she wants* I've
seen you in town ... sometimes with a baby carriage and what I assume is your husband.
*Smiles a little* I won't give you a lecture; it's your choice if you
want to hold a stranger's hand instead of your husband's.
Ava *sighs* Ah well what
if I told you my husband has slept with over 1500 woman what would you say then. *looks at him* Well if you feel uncomfortable
you could always let go *smiles* how do I put this we I mean me and my husband our relationship is an open one he
is free to do as he pleases and well I am sure that applies to me too. *looking at Jake* my husband had one of his woman on
my desk where I work please tell is that devotion to your wife *shrugs* I dunno. *sighs* any way he is ignoring me. *looks
away* Now there are a couple of rules simple really this is a one off we never speak of it and if you
see me in town you just ignore me ok *smiles* simple really isn’t it
*looking back at him* you get what you want out of it and so do I. *pausing as their blood
rushes around her body* Jake I can give you great pleasures if your willing to take part in it things
that you have never experienced before or likely to ever experience again. Now are you in or are you out?
Jake *looks at her a little
stunned by her bluntness, but as he sees it, if she's looking for revenge for her husband's actions, he has no problems
with that. The husband doesn't sound particular devoted...and she is a beautiful
woman. Not to mention that most men dream of the kind of offer she
just gave him. He smiles slightly and kisses her hand* Such a man doesn't
deserve a woman as beautiful as you, Ava. As it happens, I'm not looking
for a relationship, so your conditions sound perfectly reasonable to me. *They
start walking again and quickly reach the stables* Let me take care of Princess
and then I'm all yours ... *grins* For a while anyway. *He kisses her on the cheek and leads Princess into the stable; he returns to Ava as soon as he's done
tending to the horse. He then leads her into his room* Do you want a drink or ... *she saves him from finishing the question by kissing him on the lips;
smiles wryly* No drink then ... *puts his hand around her neck and kisses her*
Ava: Ah *Jake moves down
to her neck* now what kind of man are you then *she closes her eyes* Ah well the Jake if that’s how you want it so be
it *she pushes him hard against the wall and she rips his shirt off* No need for that
*she throws his shirt over shoulder, she kisses his neck and makes her way lower and lower*
Jake *pulls her back up and
kisses her fiercely as he leads her towards the bed; whispers a little out of breath* Your
husband is a fool to deny you ... *he gently pushes her down on the bed and proceeds to give her the attention Don has
failed to give her*
At From Hell Court:
Isabella *after Abberline has left, she sits for a while reflecting over a very long and confusing day. If someone had told her the day before that she and Abberline would find a way of getting along and even
share very private thoughts and past experiences, she would’ve never believed them. And
that kiss … it certainly did have a ‘wow’ factor despite the fact that what lay behind it had nothing to
do with affection; it was so filled with build up tension, frustration, desperation … and pure physical attraction.
At first she did regret it, because it reminded her of all the wrong turns she’s
taken, but not now. After all, if it hadn’t happened, they might still
be bickering and throwing verbal punches at each other. His blunt way of telling
the truth and confirming all her self-doubts stung, but at the same time it was also sort of a relief to talk to someone who
didn’t try to comfort her or told her what she wanted to hear instead of the simple truth.*
*The day has drained her emotionally, but she still doesn’t feel like going to bed … she’s far too
restless to sleep. She glances around her apartment, which now seems so small
that she almost feels claustrophobic. Although knowing that going out alone at
night in From Hell Court is putting herself at risk and doing the exact thing that she shouldn’t do, Isabella rises
from the sofa and grabs a jacket. She leaves the apartment and goes out onto
the street … she’s not in search of a den; she’s never really believed that alcohol can solve anything.
She just had to get out of the apartment.
She buries her hands in the pockets of her jacket and starts walking deeper into the Court; despite the state of her
mind, she keeps a keen eye on her surroundings. As she gets deeper into the Court,
fewer people are on the street and the few who are keeps to the shadows. Suddenly
she stops as she hears a whisper:*
Isabella…
Isabella *shudders as she feels a chill down her spine; the whispering voice sounded as if someone were standing right
next to her whispering in her ear, but as she turns around no one is there and she can’t make out anyone in the shadows
either. After a while she decides that it was all in her head and continues on
her way … *
Isabella…
Isabella *stops again; her heart is pounding in her chest. It’s
not her mind playing tricks on her … it’s him. It must be. She tries to sound as assertive as possible, but her voice is shaking* Show yourself. *Despite knowing that it had to be him,
she still stares in disbelief as Delano steps out of the shadows, and she can barely breathe as a flood of emotions wash over
her.*
